Sun Siyam Group, one of the Indian Ocean’s leading privately owned hospitality groups, very recently announced the promotion of Deepak Booneady as Group Chief Executive Officer. This appointment marks a defining moment in the continued evolution of Sun Siyam Group, reinforcing its commitment to long term growth, brand elevation, and purpose driven leadership across its diversified portfolio of businesses.

Deepak has been a central figure in the Group’s transformation, having served as Chief Executive Officer of Sun Siyam Resorts with distinction. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening brand positioning, enhancing guest experience philosophies, and advancing major strategic initiatives that reflect the resort group’s proud island heritage while positioning it for future relevance on the global luxury stage.

Under his leadership, Sun Siyam has continued to expand and refine its portfolio across the Maldives and Sri Lanka, while elevating its international visibility and desirability across key global markets. At the heart of his leadership approach is a deep commitment to people, culture, and talent development, with a strong emphasis on building and empowering high performing teams as the foundation of long term brand growth.

In his role as Group Chief Executive Officer, Deepak will have overall responsibility for Sun Siyam Group and its diversified portfolio, overseeing strategic growth, long term brand development, and the continued evolution of the Group’s businesses. His mandate also includes guiding expansion into new concepts and markets, while ensuring that each business remains firmly aligned with the founding values of authenticity, integrity, and heartfelt hospitality.

Commenting on the appointment, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Chairman and Managing Director, said:

Sun Siyam was built from the heart, on a deep belief in people, purpose, and hospitality guided by love and care. Deepak has been an important part of our journey, and his leadership has contributed meaningfully to many of the milestones we have achieved together. He leads with strategic clarity, integrity, and genuine respect for our people and culture, inspiring excellence and bringing out the very best in teams across our islands to drive shared success. This appointment reflects our continued focus on strong, collaborative leadership and the confidence I place in him. I am proud to see him take on this role and look forward to the collective achievements Sun Siyam Group will continue to reach together.

Founded by Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, one of the Maldives’ most respected and visionary entrepreneurs, Sun Siyam Group is the result of more than three decades of hands-on leadership, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the nation’s tourism industry. From its early beginnings, the Group has been shaped through deep operational expertise, an instinctive understanding of guest experience, and a steadfast belief in Maldivian talent. Today, Sun Siyam Group stands as one of the country’s leading tourism contributors and employers, with a diversified portfolio spanning hospitality, travel services, construction, media, and sustainability driven ventures.

Operating across the Maldives and Sri Lanka, and supported by global sales and representation offices in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas, Sun Siyam Group owns and operates a portfolio of distinctive resorts across its Luxury, Privé, and Lifestyle collections. United by a shared purpose, the Group continues to champion extraordinary experiences while remaining deeply rooted in Maldivian heritage, authenticity, and community.

Deepak’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Sun Siyam Group continues to premiumise its brands, invest in next generation resort concepts, and explore new areas of sustainable and responsible growth, while preserving the open hearted spirit and people first philosophy instilled by its founder.
