November 7, 2024 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Shanika Ranaweera, Head of Human Resources at DHL Sri Lanka, has been celebrated for her outstanding career achievements by winning the prestigious Career Leadership – Human Resources award at the 14th Sri Lankan Top50 Professional & Career Women Awards 2024. Organized by Women in Management (WIM) Sri Lanka, this year’s event was held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together industry leaders to recognize the contributions of professional women across multiple sectors.
The awards program, a landmark event honoring career accomplishments, was held on November 7, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It celebrated women who have excelled in fields such as Information Technology & Digital Marketing, inclusivity and diversity advocacy, education, and other significant areas. Shanika’s award highlights her contributions and career-long dedication to advancing HR practices in Sri Lanka.
With over two decades of experience in human resources, Shanika has held key roles in both local and multinational corporations, showcasing a deep understanding of the entire HR spectrum. Her career journey began as an Administrative Assistant at Global Transportation and Logistics (Pvt) Limited, but her interest in human resources quickly led her to the role of HR Executive at McLarens Group of Companies. Since then, Shanika has held senior HR roles across multiple companies, including a five-year tenure as Assistant Manager of Human Resources at Lanka IOC PLC and a decade with B. Braun Lanka, where she rose to the position of Head of HR. Her leadership and expertise are rooted in her strategic approach and ability to align HR functions with broader business goals.

Today, as Head of Human Resources at DHL Sri Lanka, Shanika has made a notable impact since joining the company in May 2024. Her work focuses on integrating strategic HR initiatives with DHL’s business objectives, partnering closely with senior executives to drive growth, enhance employee engagement, and foster a results-driven culture. She is also a Visiting Lecturer at the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), where she mentors the next generation of HR professionals.
