The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) has appointed Sampath Jayasundara, Chief Executive Officer of PeoplesHR and hSenid Business Solutions PLC, as its Chairman for the 2026/27 term, reinforcing the country’s commitment to building a US$5 billion knowledge and innovation export industry.
A distinguished technology leader, entrepreneur, and educator with over 25 years of industry experience, Jayasundara has been instrumental in driving digital transformation while expanding the global reach of Sri Lankan technology solutions. In addition to his corporate leadership, he is the Co-Founder and Director of Pioneer Institute of Business and Technology Ltd., where he has contributed to higher education by developing internationally recognized academic pathways in collaboration with the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom.
Commenting on his appointment, Jayasundara emphasized that Sri Lanka’s next phase of economic growth must be powered by innovation, intellectual property, Artificial Intelligence (AI), globally competitive digital products, and world-class talent, rather than competing primarily on cost.
Under his leadership, SLASSCOM will focus on developing an AI-ready workforce through the SLASSCOM Academy, strengthening collaboration between universities and industry, supporting higher education curriculum reforms, and fostering entrepreneurship through a flagship startup development programme.
The association also aims to accelerate Sri Lanka’s transition from a services-based technology industry to a product-led digital economy, enabling local technology companies to create globally competitive digital platforms, attract international investment, and generate high-value employment opportunities.
Supporting Jayasundara is a newly elected SLASSCOM Board of Directors, comprising leaders with expertise in technology, finance, operations, and entrepreneurship. Together, the board will work towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a leading global hub for knowledge, innovation, and digital services.
SLASSCOM’s renewed leadership reflects the industry’s continued commitment to driving sustainable growth, enhancing global competitiveness, and positioning Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for digital innovation and technology exports.
