Colombo, 8th November 2025 – Sales 101, the launch event of The 101 Series by AIESEC in NIBM, brought together students and young professionals at the National Library Auditorium for a one-day interactive workshop focused on the fundamentals of sales. The initiative aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge, leadership skills, and insights into real-world business scenarios, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional experience.

AIESEC is a global, youth-led organization dedicated to developing responsible and impactful leaders. In Sri Lanka, AIESEC has a strong presence across 20 universities, engaging over 1,500 students in programs that foster cross-cultural understanding, innovation, and professional growth. The 101 Series provides beginner-friendly, hands-on workshops led by industry experts, giving participants actionable skills and exposure to professional fields.

The Sales 101 session introduced participants to core sales concepts, including understanding customer needs, creating value-driven conversations, and building confidence in closing deals. The event featured a panel of accomplished industry professionals and entrepreneurs:

  • Mr. Amithe Gamage — Co-Founder, Brand the Pro / COO, Marspreneurs / Co-Founder, Quantum Leap Pvt Ltd

  • Mr. Manitha Abeysiriwardana — Co-Founder, AXO Creative; Content Creator & Influencer

  • Mr. Rashith Yapa — Co-Founder & Managing Director, AXO Creative; Content Creator & Influencer

  • Mr. Janith Perera — Category Planning & Marketing Manager, Fonterra

  • Mr. Avishka Warnakulasooriya — Founder, PMP Global

XpressJobs was proud to be the Silver Sponsor and Recruitment Partner of the event, sharing insights with students on the many career opportunities available across its network of over 10,000 clients. At any given time, XpressJobs hosts around 1,500 openings in Sales, Marketing, and Business Development, offering a wide range of pathways for young professionals. View current sales jobs here.

Reflecting on the event, Mr. Janith Perera said:

“While the session focused on the ‘Fundamentals of Sales,’ my aim was to provide students with practical insights into how sales operates in real business contexts, beyond traditional academic discussions. Selling is about identifying opportunities to meet a need or creating value where it is needed. Sales is a critical function that drives business success and offers a powerful platform for accelerated professional growth. It was an honor to share the stage with my mentor, Amithe Gamage, and contribute to inspiring the next generation of sales professionals.”

The student organizing team behind Sales 101 delivered an exceptional program, successfully engaging participants with interactive exercises, case studies, and actionable insights. The workshop reinforced the importance of sales as a foundational professional skill, while inspiring students to explore and develop their potential in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
